Job description

Fleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega-scale data center campuses. Fleet headquarters is in Denver, Colorado, with satellite offices in Seattle, WA and Arlington, VA.

Position Summary

The Energy Commercial Integration Lead will bridge the gap between the power secured across Fleet's sites and the commercial engagement required to convey its value to end-users. The role ensures that complex elements of Fleet's power position-such as interconnection progress, substation phasing, grid readiness, and financial obligations-are translated into clear, consistent, and actionable insights that inform end-user decisions. By aligning technical achievement with market understanding, this position enables Fleet's power certainty to become a core differentiator in the data center marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

Energy-to-Customer Integration Own the integration of power readiness and utility milestones into end-user pursuits and deal strategy. Partner with Fleet and site-selection team to present clear, consistent, and credible power narratives for each market. Translate interconnection progress, substation phasing, financial obligations, and power procurement options into actionable customer insights. Prepare briefing decks and readiness reports used by commercial and sales leaders in external presentations. Develop internal briefing materials, reports, and presentations that make technical findings accessible to non-technical stakeholders. Customer-Facing Engagement and Commercial Support As the point of contact for energy criteria in customer evaluations, build customer trust in the technical and commercial teams. Anticipate customer requirements and build array of responses to meet and exceed customer criteria. Partner with end-user site selection teams to articulate the energy value proposition of each development site. Provide end-users with clarity on utility timelines, risks, costs, and opportunities that affect site selection decisions. Internal Alignment and Process Development Collaborate with utility development, energy asset development, and Fleet commercial teams to ensure energy data and messaging is consistent across all markets. Anticipate end-user questions and prepare internal teams with consistent, accurate messaging across all markets. Create standardized communication templates and processes to deliver consistent energy information across markets and projects. Develop tools and dashboards to streamline the flow of energy development updates to commercial-facing teams. Develop and own the transition from project development and delivery to customer hand-off and sustaining operations. Align with lead utility developer to positively introduce customer to the utilities partners and ensure customer success in assignment of con obligations and pursuit of energy cons (if required.) Market Intelligence & Strategy Positioning Track and communicate regulatory, utility, and market developments affecting energy access and competitiveness of company sites. Collaborate with leadership to frame energy positioning that supports long-term growth and end-user confidence. Identify opportunities where Fleet's early power strategy can be monetized or co-developed with end-users.

Qualifications

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong executive presence; capable of representing Fleet credibly with utilities, regulators, and customer executives. Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy, business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in energy development, electric utility commercial team, or large-load energy strategy, with direct exposure to data center or hyperscale customers strongly preferred. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret how utility costs, deposit structures, and power timelines affect site valuation. Working knowledge of utility interconnection processes, transmission planning, and regulatory frameworks (FERC, state PUCs, cost-recovery mechanisms, and tariffs). Proven experience translating complex power or grid concepts into clear, business-relevant insights for decision-makers and customers. Demonstrated success supporting or leading customer engagements with hyperscale or enterprise clients in power, energy, or infrastructure sectors. Proficiency in developing standardized communication tools, dashboards, or reporting systems to manage information across multiple projects or markets. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and drive alignment between technical and commercial teams. High degree of initiative, structure, and judgment in balancing technical detail with business clarity.

Preferred

MBA or advanced degree in energy economics, finance, or public policy. Experience in large-scale power infrastructure development (transmission, substations, or generation siting). Familiarity with corporate sustainability and renewable energy procurement programs relevant to hyperscale customers.

Data center end-users have a clear, accurate understanding of energy availability and risks for each site. The company is positioned as a trusted and transparent partner in energy and grid strategy. Energy development outcomes are seamlessly integrated into customer decision-making, improving win rates and site competitiveness.

Analytical Ability : Make data-driven decisions, assess cost structures, and identify potential risks, ensuring informed and strategic outcomes.

Influence and Persuasion : Able to effectively advocate for their position, build consensus, and secure favorable agreements without compromising relationships.

Operational Paranoia : Anticipate risks, identify vulnerabilities, and proactively implement mechanisms to prevent and minimize disruptions and safeguard safety, security, availability, and scale.

Relationship Management : Cultivate trust, collaboration, and long-term partnerships, while building a broad network that provides valuable benchmarking, industry insights, and alternative sourcing options.

Location and Travel :

Work location is flexible to Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, Austin, TX or Alexandria, VA.Regular travel, as needed, to Fleet offices as well as to meet with local authorities / utility leaders in support of projects. We expect it to be less than 25%.

Expected Salary Range : $180,000 – $225,000 plus Bonus
