Reports to : Lead Teacher
Position Type : Roughly 38 weeks per academic year
Schedule : 8 : 45 AM until 15 minutes after class dismissal
Assignments are determined annually based on school needs, though individual preferences will be considered.
Qualifications
To serve as an Assistant Teacher, individuals must meet the following criteria :
- Hold a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
Primary Responsibilities
Assistant Teachers support the Lead Teacher and contribute to a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Supervision and SafetyEnsure constant supervision of children and prioritize their safety and well-being.Take full responsibility for the class in the absence of the Lead Teacher.Provide guidance to substitute teachers regarding classroom procedures.Child Development
Support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of each child.Observe and share relevant information about children's health, behavior, and development with the Lead Teacher.Classroom Support
Assist in preparing and implementing daily activities and lessons.Maintain daily attendance logs.Attend and actively participate in classroom events, field trips, and team meetings.Help keep classroom and shared spaces clean, organized, and sanitizedClean and sanitize high-touch surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, tables, toys) regularlySweep floors as needed to ensure a tidy classroomSupport the setup and breakdown of classroom learning centersProfessional Conduct
Maintain a respectful and professional attitude toward all staff and support team collaboration.Adhere to all Presby Kids policies, procedures, and state regulations.Attend all staff meetings and complete required training (equal to 1% of annual hours worked, as determined by the Director).Communication
Keep the Director informed of classroom concerns or significant occurrences.Relay parent communications to the Lead Teacher, especially regarding illness, injury, or other concerns.Additional Duties
Assist with set-up and clean-up for school events.May be assigned to other classrooms as needed by the Director.Job Type : Part-time
Pay : $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
