Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to support our daily lunch and snack service. The primary role is to portion and organize food for classrooms-not to prepare food. However, this position will assist with basic food preparation when our main chef is on vacation or absent. A valid Illinois Food Manager License is required. Schedule Monday-Friday, 9 : 00 a.m.-3 : 00 p.m. Part-time position Key Responsibilities Portion and organize food items onto carts for each classroom Clearly label and separate items for allergies or special diets Deliver food carts to designated classrooms as needed Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen compliant with state and licensing requirements Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries Label, date, and rotate food items properly Assist with basic food preparation during chef vacation days or absences Support the mission and values of St. Francis Day Care Center through teamwork, respect, and service Qualifications Valid Illinois Food Manager License (Required or Willing to Obtain) Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred Ability to stand, lift, bend, and carry 30-40 lbs Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions Positive attitude and comfort working in a faith-based environment What We Offer Supportive and mission-driven team Training for center procedures and licensing requirements Opportunity to serve children and staff in a meaningful way Job Type : Part-time Employment Type : Full Time Years Experience : 1 - 3 years Salary : $16 - $17 Hourly Bonus / Commission : No
