WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Grand Calumet River Restoration Field Crew Member participate in restoration efforts as part of a Grand Calumet River Restoration Action Team. They assist in maintaining preserve areas and riverine marshes. Work may include controlling exotic invasive species; maintaining tools and equipment; monitoring wildlife; conducting preserve maintenance; learning how to identify native and non-native species; and preparing sites for prescribed burns.
Responsibilities & Scope :
This is a full-time (40 hours / week), hands-on, field position based at our Southern Lake Michigan Rim Office in Merrillville, Indiana, lasting until October 2025 .

The Nature Conservancy in Indiana is looking for Grand Calumet River Restoration Field Crew Members to join our staff in protecting more than 500 acres, including globally rare dune and swale habitat, across northern Lake County, Indiana. Restoration efforts are geared towards reinstating beneficial uses related to wildlife and wildlife habitat. This is a unique opportunity to work in an area that contains more than 30 percent of Indiana’s rare and endangered species, while expanding your conservation knowledge and skills for the next phase of your career!

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay for a candidate selected for this position is generally $16.25 - $17.50 an hour (subject to required tax withholdings). This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
