Position Overview
The Computer Systems Analyst – Journeyman provides analytical, functional, and technical expertise in support of DOI's HRD information systems - including FPPS, NextFPPS, WebTA, Quicktime , and related applications.
This role focuses on understanding user and business requirements, modeling workflows, designing system improvements, and supporting modernization initiatives as part of DOI IBC's end-to-end HR and payroll system integration mission .
Operating with substantial independence, the analyst develops solutions that improve automation, efficiency, and accuracy across HRD's enterprise systems supporting multiple federal agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Workflow and Process Analysis
- Analyze existing business workflows and system processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
- Develop, update, and maintain process flow diagrams, swimlane charts, and workflow documentation to support system operations.
- Design and maintain digital workflow repositories for documentation and stakeholder access.
- Collaborate with end-users and system owners to streamline approval, validation, and reporting processes.
- Ensure workflows align with IBC operational and security requirements.
Business Process Reengineering Support
Assist government and contractor teams in re-engineering customer business processes during system migrations and modernization activities.Analyze legacy systems and customer processes to identify alignment gaps with IBC's HRD systems.Recommend technological solutions or process changes to enhance data integrity, reduce manual intervention, and improve HR / Payroll integration.Develop and present "As-Is" and "To-Be" models to illustrate process improvements and change impacts.Work closely with developers, system engineers, and functional leads to ensure accurate implementation of re-engineered workflows.
