Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position requiring Idaho or compact RN licensure and strong acute care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on a 19-bed Medical Surgical unitPatient population includes both pediatric and adult Med / Surg cases, with common diagnoses such as post-op orthopedic, ski trauma, fractures, total joint replacements, GYN surgical procedures, and respiratory conditionsAverage census is 9 patients with a maximum 1 : 5 RN-to-patient ratio, supported by 4 RNs usually on shiftRNs will titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and initiate pressors for critical patientsUse of Epic EMR is requiredNight shifts are 12 hours, scheduled 3 nights per week, with self-scheduling alongside core staffWeekend and holiday shifts are equitably distributed with core staffCall required twice per contractFloating may be required for helping hands or safety attendant tasks, but not to other departmentsResponsibilities include assessment, monitoring, medication administration, wound care, rhythm recognition, and managing surgical drains and tele patientsMust be comfortable working with pediatric and adult patients with diverse medical and surgical needsRNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry, assisted by techs for monitoringSupport team includes a charge RN, 1-2 CNAs per shift, and access to a virtual care team for admissions and dischargesTwo shifts of unit-specific orientation are providedAny color scrubs may be wornNo blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are acceptedRequirements
Active Idaho or compact RN license required at time of considerationCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg experience, including pediatrics and ortho post-op / totalsAbility to titrate and administer common drips such as Heparin and cardiac medicationsExperience with Epic EMR documentation required or preferredTwo recent professional references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsDriver’s license and supporting documents must be provided for considerationCandidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facilityPermanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying as a travelerBenefits
