Job Summary
The Dispatch Manager is responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the Dispatch Department by current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing this facility. The Dispatch Manager will participate with and be directed by the General Manager or Operations Manager to ensure the Dispatch Department is run in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.
Essential Job Duties
• Schedule drivers on routes daily.
• Prioritize and expedite rush or problem tickets that need immediate attention.
• Handle any issues with pick tickets (FSI, RCE, and PLRC) or parts that did not get delivered on time.
• Assign and manifest route drivers daily. Be available as a backup delivery person.
• Communicate with internal and external customers.
• Operate and interpret reports with Route Optimization or Roadnet system.
• Monitor Fuel reports for loss prevention.
• Manage time off requests and Kronos including pay period signature sheets.
• Schedule maintenance on vehicles and or breakdowns with a mechanic(s).
• Sign off on bills for maintenance and schedule rentals when/if needed.
• Ensure we are compliant with drivers and paperwork for LKQ and DOT.
• Handle discipline issues and any drivers under probation because of their MVR and LKQ points.
• Ensure the vehicle Pre and Post checklist is turned in each day.
• New hire paperwork for the driver (s) and training including LKQU, ISO, and DOT.
• Maintain, organize, and keep current driver phones or other communication devices as needed.
• Handle or delegate getting vehicle tags, Gas pins, vehicle keys, DOT inspections, emission inspections, and DOT physicals.
• Filing (vehicle records, signed timesheets, PTO, etc).
• Continuously recruiting, providing performance feedback, and coaching route personnel.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct or Indirect):
• Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
• 5+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or . equivalent preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Must be organized with good verbal communication skills and display a positive and friendly attitude.
• Must provide superior customer service. Ability to adapt to change quickly.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must possess strong analytical skills.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
• Multi-line telephone system, copier, smart phone, personal computer including knowledge of
• Microsoft Office computer software.
• Route optimization experience.
