Description :

This position is for a neuro med-surg acute care unit.

The unit has 54 beds, including 2 semi-private rooms.

Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 on day shifts and 1 : 5-6 on night shifts.

Common patient diagnoses include stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, and head injuries.

Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin based on PTT.

Charge nurses are available 24 / 7 and do not take assignments unless necessary.

House supervisors are also present around the clock.

Patient care technicians are available with ratios of 1 : 9-10 during the day and evening, and 1 : 10-12 at night.

RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment but rarely manage COVID patients.

Telemetry systems are in place, with nurses not needing to interpret strips.

The unit operates on a standard 12-hour shift with rotation for weekends and holidays.

Nurses may float to different units as necessary but will only perform skills for which they are competent.

There is no mandatory call requirement for this position.

Uniform requirements include no specific scrub color, with tattoos covered during duty and piercings limited to ears.

Orientation will include unit-specific training.
