About The Position

Job Title : Pharmacy Technician

Shift : 3x8.5

Hours per Shift : 8.5

Experience : Minimum of one year pharmacy experience preferred

License : Certified Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing

Certifications : Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB required

Must-Have :

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB is required
• Previous hospital experience preferred

Description :

The Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist, is responsible for the preparation, delivery, and retrieval of patient medications used throughout the institution.

He / she is responsible for the billing of certain pharmacy charges to the patient and the control of outdated medications.

He / she assists in the orientation process of new personnel and may participate in health center and department committees.

Key responsibilities and duties include :

Restocking medication stations accurately.

Pulling medications using the inventory management system accurately.

Labeling medications correctly, including all safety labels.

Preparing new medication orders promptly for delivery.

Using aseptic technique to compound sterile products.

Completing monthly touchplates and annual transfer tests.

Entering charges and credits into the computer system accurately.

Performing checks on express charts.

Responding to temperature alarms, taking appropriate action, and documenting actions taken.
