Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Admissions Coordinator

Position : Admissions Coordinator

Status : Full Time, Exempt

Position Summary :

The Admissions Coordinator screens patient referral information received from emergency rooms and other community partners for appropriateness for admission. Accepts and denies referral packets for final review / approval by admitting physician. This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions : scheduling the staff, reports, training, monitoring and evaluation of employees performance.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Experience : Minimum of one (1) year of acute care experience preferred; an additional two (2) years of professional nursing experience ideally in behavioral health, psychiatric care, admissions, emergency room, or a medical-surgical unit that handles psychiatric patients highly desirable.

Licensure / Certification :   Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Louisiana, American Heart Association BLS (AHA BLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification. Successful candidates who do not have current AHA BLS or CPI certification will be required to attend company-provided classes during the week of orientation.

HIPAA : Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record.
