Position Purpose

We are seeking a general maintenance mechanic to assist with the operation and maintenance of our two historically significant buildings and the associated campus. This role will include performing routine maintenance and emergency repairs on building systems and machinery, such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

Our general maintenance mechanic responsibilities also involve diagnosing mechanical issues, replacing parts, and conducting preventative maintenance to ensure equipment and facilities operate efficiently and safely. The qualified applicant will need strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work with various tools, and experience with electrical components and other facilities-related machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills : Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, specialized equipment, and the ability to read technical information.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving : Strong ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex issues in mechanical and electrical systems.

Knowledge Base : Understanding of basic engineering principles, plumbing, electrical systems, and heating / air- conditioning systems.

Soft Skills : Excellent communication, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.

Education : A high school diploma or equivalent, or at least 1,800 hours of trade school in a related area / field.
