Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer to lead and manage complex structural engineering projects. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and a collaborative mindset to guide multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
- Manage projects from concept through construction administration.
- Perform advanced calculations and modeling using tools like SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, and Revit.
- Review and stamp engineering drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards (IBC, ACI, AISC), and safety regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training programs.
- Support business development through proposal writing and client presentations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois; SE license preferred.20-30 years of progressive experience in structural engineering.Proven track record of managing large-scale projects.Strong communication and leadership skills.Familiarity with Chicago building codes and permitting processes.Preferred Skills
Experience with restoration, seismic retrofitting, and sustainable design.Knowledge of BIM workflows and integration.Client-facing experience and ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
