POWER Engineers is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer for our Lake Oswego, Oregon office. The position is part of the Power Delivery Portland Substation Department. A hybrid work environment is available; employees must live within driving distance of the office.
Your Impact
The Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and culture, support department goals, maintain high-quality standards, promote teamwork, and meet client needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations, including :
One-line diagrams
SchematicsWiring diagramsSCADA and communicationsStation physical layoutsSections and elevationsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsFoundation, structural and control enclosure plans and detailsLightning protection and yard lighting plansBills of materialsSite visitsSupport QA / QC for deliverables to clients.Learn and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex, technically challenging designs.Occasional travel required.Required Qualifications
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.Proficient English written and oral communication skills.Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications
3+ months of relevant electrical engineering work experience (internship or co-op).Minimum 3.0 GPA.Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design.Engineering Intern certificate (EI) or passed FE exam.Benefits
