This position is eligible for internal Blue Cross Blue Shield employees and external applications.
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for preparing financial reports, performing research and analysis, and preparing journal entries for a complex segment of accounting. This may include claims, premium, insurance, reinsurance, billings, treasury, inter-plan programs, investments, and prescription drug programs. This position reviews financial data and reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Prepares monthly financial reports and statements for internal management and externally for various state and regulatory filings as assigned.
- Researches, analyzes, and prepares monthly journal entries for assigned areas.
- Performs account analysis and reconciliations for general ledger and bank accounts.
- Assists with annual cash flow projections to ensure adequate cash flow for the organization.
- Creates and manages the status of receivable and payable accounts and identifies inconsistencies. Responsible for billing and financial reporting processes.
- Provides information and responses to various audits including internal auditors, state and federal regulatory agencies, and other external auditors.
- Completes surveys, prepares presentations, and conducts other projects, as requested.
- Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
What you need to succeed :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field.3 years of general accounting, financial statement preparation, or related experience.Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats.Driven by objectives with a focus on completing accounting tasks with a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.Utilizes analytical skills to interpret financial data.Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards.
