Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric RN with a current DC license and at least 2 years of pediatric experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Pediatrics unit of a children's hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Works with a pediatric patient population; may include patients of any age
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4
  • Rotating day (7 : 00-19 : 00) and night (19 : 00-7 : 00) 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Use of Cerner EMR system
  • Float assignments may occur between critical care pediatric units (NICU / PICU / CICU) as needed
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers with no mile restriction
  • Scrub uniforms may be any color but must be logo-free and child friendly
  • Orientation and pre-start modules required, with at least 20 hours of self-reported pre-start modules
  • Non-smoking facility with zero tolerance for tobacco use
  • A minimum of one holiday off is guaranteed; additional holidays may be granted based on facility needs
  • Missed shifts must be made up within the same week
  • No more than 7 days of time off is permitted; full week off requires contract extension to make up days
  • Former staff must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

  • Active DC RN license required at the time of assignment; pending licensure not accepted for start
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric RN experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Must not have any license or background check discrepancies
  • Must provide a recent professional photo upon contract signature
  • References preferred and must be available upon request
