Purchasing Systems And Procedures Control
The major responsibility in this position is to control the purchasing systems and procedures within the hotel. A significant portion of the workday is spent walking, carrying, lifting, speaking, and listening, and usually standing up. This shift is 6am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday so please only apply if you are available for this shift. The vast majority of the time is spent inspecting new items or supplies that have arrived, normally done while standing up, and moving about the hotel in order to deliver supplies to appropriate departments. Assisting in carrying or lifting items up to 300 pounds happens some of the time with the use of pallet jack. A small portion of time spent listening to information related to potential or actual purchases, and speaking to other people regarding these matters. Reading abilities are used often when reviewing price quotes, purchase orders, inventory, and cost reports. Writing abilities are used some of the time when compiling various reports, as well as to document. Birchstreet is the purchasing system used so prior experience is a plus. The person in this position spends a significant amount of time organizing and delivering guest packages for events, associates and guests. Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, variances, budgeting, and profit / loss concepts are used often.
