Job Summary :

The Civil / LA Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of each designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing duties personally or through subordinates.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Reviews project proposal or scope to determine time frame, fees, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of personnel
  • Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
  • Reviews status of project with project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required, communicating with management, clients, or others regarding status updates and schedule changes
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
  • Review design calculations and project construction documents for compliance with project scope and building code requirements, communicating comments and necessary changes with project personnel

Required Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret
  • Ability to write effective reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and / or architects
  • Possesses a firm understanding of engineering design for all aspects of site development along with current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes and regulations
  • Embraces teamwork approach
  • Must possess strong technical skills
  • Must demonstrate expertise in project design, flow and management
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other discipline specific software

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from accredited college or university required
  • Professional engineering (PE) license from state licensing agency required
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license is required along with satisfactory driving record
