The Work You Will Do :

This is an Attorney position in our Turnpike Enterprise office located in Ocoee, Florida.

This position will b e esponsible for providing legal counsel and advice to District staff concerning the day-to-day operations and business of the Department, including the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts, funding agreements, joint project agreements, joint participation agreements, intergovernmental agreements, permits, and agreements concerning the use of Department right-of-way and acquisition of interests in real estate, consistent with the direction and advice provided on a statewide basis, as established by the General Counsel.

Where You Will Work :

You are a part of the Office of the General Counsel statewide team and will work in our Turnpike Enterprise Chief Counsel's office located at the Turkey Lake Service Plaza, Building 5315, Mile Marker 263, Florida's Turnpike.

Annual Salary Range :

$85,000.00 - $100,000.00

Your Specific Responsibilities :

Responsible for providing legal counsel and advice to Turnpike Enterprise staff concerning the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts, funding agreements, joint project agreements, construction agreements, maintenance agreements, intergovernmental agreements, toll operation agreements, permits, and agreements concerning Turnpike Enterprise right-of-way and real property interests, consistent with the direction and advice provided by the Turnpike Enterprise Chief Counsel and the General Counsel.

Responsible for thoroughly researching all state and federal statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations affecting the operations of the Turnpike Enterprise. Responsible for advising Turnpike Enterprise program area offices the attorney is assigned to work with regarding legal powers and duties, how the law affects operations, and the implementation of policies and rules.

Responsible for providing legal representation in claims and litigation against and by the Department in all phases, including research, preparation of pleadings, discovery, preparation of witnesses, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial, as assigned. Responsible for providing support to Department attorneys representing the Department in claims and litigation against and by the Department, as assigned. Responsible for assisting with public records requests, information requests, and subpoenas, as assigned.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of :

• Litigation and civil rules of procedure and practice and Government In the Sunshine Law.
• The principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communications.
