Shift Coord Pulmonary Svcs MHO
Reports to the Manager, Pulmonary Services or designee. Plans and coordinates team member work assignments and patient care functions in order to facilitate high quality care. Provides support, instruction, evaluation and acts as a resource for team members as needed. Performs the Essential Functions of a Respiratory Therapist.

Coordinates the clinical activities of team members to ensure quality patient care by :
Adhering to and enforcing Pulmonary Services Department policies and procedures.Retaining accountability for all patient care provided in assigned areas.Assuring appropriate staffing for shift and for all in and out-of-house transports.Evaluating the quality of service provided by department team members, documenting and making appropriate suggestions for disciplinary action, when necessary, to assure quality patient care is provided.Assisting with clinical issues and acting as a resource person for team members.Manages resources by :
Assisting with department team member scheduling and shift assignments assigning patient care in accordance with patient care and staff capability.Monitoring overtime and low census / voluntary leave on responsible shift.Maintain Departmental productivity goals.Ensuring all supplies and equipment are available and meet the needs of the units.Assisting with the development and implementation of new or revised policies and procedures for the department, as needed.Communicating problems or concerns with regards to patient care or staffing issues to appropriate person as department flow chart indicates.Performing the Essential Functions of a Respiratory Therapist with the flexibility to work in other than primary area when necessary.Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by :
Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.Supporting team members with their assignments as needed.ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements :

The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited school or equivalent education. Registration and valid Indiana license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, and two to three years of more responsible experience in the delivery of advanced respiratory therapy technique and treatment modalities is required.Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrates leadership skills needed to elicit cooperation and support from others, to interact tactfully with co-workers, superiors, patients and other hospital team members, and the ability to coordinate a variety of activities and establish priorities ensuring a timely completion.Requires a thorough working knowledge of general respiratory treatment programs and policies related to patient care and an in-depth knowledge in areas of responsibility.Demonstrates the analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement and evaluate the quality of patient care and develop procedures to ensure continued quality patient care.Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to build good working relationships with Pulmonary Services and Hospital team members.Working Conditions
Works in a patient care environment with occasional exposure to communicable disease and radiation.Physical Demands
