Mechanical Director – MEP Engineering Leadership

Employment Type : Full-Time
Salary Range : $143,000 – $165,000 annually (DOE)
Total Compensation Package : $160,000 – $185,000+ (including benefits and bonuses)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Director to provide leadership, technical expertise, and strategic direction to our team of mechanical engineers. This role will focus on mentorship, performance management, and staff development , while also ensuring high-quality project delivery across mission-critical, telecommunications, commercial, and government markets.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate with other department heads and principals to drive innovation, uphold technical standards, and build client satisfaction. This is a senior-level role with high visibility, requiring a deep understanding of the MEP industry and the ability to leverage emerging technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and provide technical oversight for the design of mechanical systems across diverse markets.
Manage and mentor the mechanical design staff , ensuring alignment with company goals.
Partner with leadership on department budgets, development plans, and staffing strategies.
Conduct performance reviews and address performance gaps where needed.
Oversee project design approaches, specifications, and cross-discipline coordination.
Maintain vendor and client relationships to support project success.
Facilitate training programs and mentorship to elevate staff expertise.
Ensure adherence to company standards, codes, and quality control initiatives .
Direct the development of schematic design narratives, energy models, and calculations.
Manage conflict / deadline resolution, while proactively improving internal processes.
Participate in construction administration (submittals, RFIs, site visits, change orders).
Support recruitment efforts by leading interviews for mechanical engineering candidates.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Licensure : Active Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas required.
Experience : 10+ years in MEP engineering (7+ considered for exceptional candidates).
Strong leadership experience managing teams and project delivery.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (AutoCAD & Revit preferred).
Familiarity with sustainability systems such as LEED or WELL (preferred).
Experience with load / energy analysis software (HAP, Trace 700) is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, mentoring, and conflict-resolution skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary : $143,000 – $165,000 (DOE)
Total Comp Package : $160,000 – $185,000+ (including bonuses & benefits)
