Lead Engineering Technician

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Vertiv is seeking Lead Engineering Technician to support new product development (NPD) for power switching and distribution products. You will build prototypes, fabricate and / or assemble wire harnesses, perform design & drawing reviews, assist with Change Orders (COs), and provide manufacturability feedback in partnership with Design Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME). The role also owns internal orders, prototype part intake / check-in, and build readiness to keep NPDI prototype schedules on track.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute hands-on assembly of mechanical / electrical prototypes; follow build files, test plans, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate build readiness : receive, verify (drawing / revision), kit, and stage prototype parts prior to build start.
• Build and rework wire / cable harnesses; verify continuity and polarity; document as-built updates.
• Participate in CAD / drawing reviews; redline prints and bills of material (BOM); provide design for manufacturability input.
• Support engineers with CO preparation tasks in PD Cloud; assist with CCO effectivity follow-through.
• Create and track internal / transfer orders; coordinate receiving and reconcile shortages.
• Receive and check-in supplier prototype parts; verify against drawings / revisions and PO; update trackers.
• Maintain accurate as-built updates, part / assembly redlines, and lessons learned; contribute to NPDI deliverables.
