About Miami Correctional Facility :
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Miami Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Miami Correctional Facility is a maximum security correctional facility for adult males. The Miami Correctional Facility is located in Bunker Hill. Miami Correctional Facility is on the southeast corner of the Grissom Aeroplex, just south of Peru, Indiana, in Miami County. Miami Correctional Facility offers several opportunities for work and educational programs, including a program where incarcerated individuals translate reading materials to Braille and a sewing shop that provides items for partner organizations.
Role Overview
As a Correctional Captain, you will be responsible for the management, supervision, and safety of the facility, incarcerated individuals, coworkers, and the general public. In addition, you must interpret and apply the IDOC facility rules, policies, and procedures in a firm, fair, and consistent manner to both incarcerated individuals and staff. You will be responsible for the review and development of policies and procedures related to custody. In the event of an emergency, effective leadership must be immediately exhibited.
Salary Statement
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and / or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
