The Financial Analyst supports biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, and healthcare research organizations by analyzing financial performance, evaluating investment opportunities, and providing insights that guide strategic decision-making. This role blends traditional financial analysis with specialized knowledge of scientific R&D, regulatory pathways, clinical trials, and industry-specific market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Develop, maintain, and analyze financial models (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, valuation models).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal stakeholders.
- Forecast revenue and expenses based on product pipelines, market trends, and clinical development timelines.
- Track budget vs. actuals and support variance analysis across research, clinical, and commercial units.
Industry & Market Analysis
Evaluate life science market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory developments.Conduct benchmarking against peer companies in biotech, pharma, and healthcare sectors.Support pricing, reimbursement, and market-access analyses for new products.R&D and Clinical Program Support
Analyze costs, timelines, and financial impact of research programs and clinical trials.Assess potential ROI for pipeline assets, licensing deals, and portfolio prioritization.Collaborate with scientific, clinical, and regulatory teams to translate technical data into financial implications.Investment & Strategic Support
Assist with valuation of partnerships, M&A opportunities, licensing agreements, and fundraising initiatives.Prepare materials for executive presentations, investor decks, and board meetings.Perform scenario planning and sensitivity analyses for strategic decision-making.Required Qualifications :
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.Strong preference for candidates with experience or education in Biology, Chemistry, Biotech, Biomedical Engineering, or related life science discipline.Skills
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; familiarity with FP&A or investment analysis tools.Ability to interpret scientific and clinical data in a business / financial context.Strong analytical thinking, detail orientation, and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain financial insights to non-financial teams.Knowledge of biotech / pharma development cycles, FDA regulatory pathways, and clinical trial phases.Compensation : $80,000 to $90,000 annually
