Job description

Investment Product Manager

At LPL Financial, we empower professionals to shape their success while helping clients pursue their financial goals with confidence. This leader will drive continual platform enhancements to offer a robust fund menu across all lines of business and set the prioritization of our product pipeline in support of demand coming from our growing acquisitions. The team is responsible for onboarding of new products, project management, and client experience across LPL's investment product offerings. It coordinates with other functional teams to collectively create great client outcomes.

Lead the team of business owners responsible for mutual funds, ETFs, money markets, capital markets, and other high net worth and tax deferral solutions such as 529s, HSAs, DAFs. This includes leading the initial and ongoing due diligence of these products, and continual evolution of the process. Advise when we need to discontinue offering specific products. Set the strategy around product pipeline and sourcing, manage product requests, and identify / fill gaps on the platform to ensure the platform remains competitive and meets new areas of demand, continually benchmarking LPL's platform against the industry. Engage with advisors to explain product availability, be a point of escalation for resolving complex problems in selling or servicing products and create / publish educational and marketing materials to increase engagement and awareness. Engage with asset managers to deliver a quality product shelf and manage selling agreement negotiations. Explore new investment structures and proactively seek new investment opportunities for platform distribution. Use asset flows, fund trends, industry trends and monitor share class usage at both the firm and industry level to advise how we strategically position our platforms Be an agent of change to influence at both the industry and firm level how we support new product innovation to investment offerings. Provide project leadership on a variety of firm roadmap initiatives. Collaborate with others in Investment Management Solutions where we see product spaces overlap.

The position requires a candidate with deep investment product experience, specifically with mutual funds, ETFs, money markets, capital markets and tax deferral solutions. The ability to lead in partnership with other teams within IMS and across the organization is also critical to the role. Experience with investments and the ability to operate independently to advance projects and handle advisor escalations are baseline skills required of the role. Lastly, deep industry connectivity is expected in order to stay on top of industry trends and be an active voice across the space.

Responsibilities :

  • Demonstrate a commitment to creating an environment in which the investment product shelf is managed in a manner consistent with the firm's core values namely putting the interests of our advisors and their clients first.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all aspects of LPL's Mutual Fund, ETF, money market, capital markets and other tax deferral offerings.
  • Lead a team responsible for building the product pipeline, completing due diligence and onboarding products.
  • Partner with others in Investment Management Solutions to support departmental and firm-wide initiatives
  • Lead thought leadership to enhance / evolve LPL approach to Mutual Fund and ETF diligence assessing fund availability
  • Partner with the firm's Product Risk team to improve our approach to on-going monitoring. Own the resolution of specific issues with fund categories or fund companies
  • Track regulatory changes and industry / competitor developments in terms of product, pricing, policy and platform experience within the investment product space
  • Provide expertise in the offerings and consult with Marketing and Communication team members on product attractiveness and change management

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience in the financial services industry.
  • Deep understanding of investment products, product trends and industry regulations
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Experience working with investment-oriented databases and analytical software including Morningstar, FactSet and Excel
  • Investment Product management experience associated with evaluating dynamic decisions and contributing towards recommendations that enhance the product offering
  • Ability to lead projects in a matrix managed fashion leveraging strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • FINRA Series 7 / 66 required. Series 24 preferred.
  • Pay Range : $154,400-$257,400 / year. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
