Position Summary : Assistant General Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of the taproom and bar staff. The AGM is the point person for ordering / stocking supplies, supervising / scheduling staff, performance management, customer satisfaction, cleanliness / sanitation and safety practices / procedures. This position requires leadership ability to manage staff effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities - Including but not limited to :
- Professionally Supervise Bar Staff – Create and maintain bartender schedule (3-4 weeks in advance), calculate tips weekly, oversee side work, send weekly updates, assess performance, assist in hiring and training staff and more.
- Manager on Duty (MOD) 3-4 days a week – Serve as floor manager - direct customers to tables, welcome / coordinate events, help flip the room between events, help behind the bar as needed etc...
- Events Coordination – Book community room and all other events. Also schedule food pop ups / food trucks, and bands
- Order and stock Supplies - Office supplies, cleaning supplies, bar supplies – guest beverages (wine, cider, sodas etc…), snacks, plates, napkins etc…,
- Merchandise – Oversee ordering, stocking and organizing all of our merchandise
- Marketing - Making posters / signage to place around the bar and work closely with our marketing director to maintain the newsletter, website and social media.
- Menus – Update digital menus and print paper menus (weekly)
- Point of Sale (Toast) – Update and maintain items in our POS.
- Bartend - Helping out when needed
- Coordinate donation requests and other admin duties

Characteristics and description of Burning Bush craft beer and all other beverages / snacks we offer.Designated glassware for each drink.Room capacity, hours of operation, menus, prices and dress code.Event Policies, pricing and other details -Correct maintenance and use of equipment, using only as intended.Maintain complete knowledge of, and strictly abide by, state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk drivers.Maintain complete knowledge of, and comply with, all company policies and service procedures.Adhere to all Health Department, sanitation, and safety regulations required by OSHA and Illinois.Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA and Illinois regulations.Physical Requirements :
Work conditions in certain areas of the bar / brewery can be hot, cold, wet, slippery and / or noisy. Frequent walking, including climbing up and down stairs are required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods, and to occasionally lift and carry heavy items up to 40+ pounds (may be aided). Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers.Illinois Basset Certification.Illinois and Chicago Food Managers Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hiring).Two years’ experience as a bartender, server, assistant manager or manager.
