Summary
Our client, a respected and growing general contractor with a strong track record in public-sector construction, is looking for a Construction Project Manager to lead municipal infrastructure and public works projects. These projects span transportation, utilities, water / wastewater, and civic buildings — often requiring tight coordination with city agencies and strict adherence to regulatory guidelines.
This role is ideal for a motivated construction professional with experience navigating government contracts, managing field teams, and delivering infrastructure projects on-time and within scope. You’ll serve as a central figure in coordinating daily operations, interfacing with municipal stakeholders, and driving results.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily construction operations for public-sector projects, ensuring smooth execution from planning through final delivery
Coordinate project efforts among contractors, field crews, engineers, inspectors, and local agencies
Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
Track and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, proactively resolving issues and mitigating delays
Ensure full compliance with municipal, state, and federal codes and quality standards
Lead onsite progress meetings, inspections, and stakeholder briefings
Manage documentation workflows including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily / weekly reports
Promote and enforce best-in-class jobsite safety and quality assurance practices
Support contractor selection and bid review processes as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
5+ years of project management experience with municipal, public works, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with city / state agency requirements, permitting, and public project documentation
Ability to manage multiple concurrent jobs and lead diverse construction teams
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in construction tools and software such as Procore , Bluebeam , MS Project , and Microsoft Office
Experience with infrastructure project scopes such as roadways, utilities, civic buildings, or wastewater treatment is highly desirable
NICET, PMP, or equivalent certifications are a plus
