Position(s) : Lecturer in German language, cinema, and literature Starting Date : September 22, 2025

Salary : Approximately $8,872.12 per course (pending final budget approval) Appointment is eligible for renewal depending on need, funding and performance.

• All appointments are contingent upon the appointee being able to provide, in accord with Federal law, evidence of authorization to work in the United States
• This position is funded pending enrollment
• Internal candidates receive first consideration

Qualifications :

Minimum requirements are an M.A or higher in German or a related field. Priority will be given to candidates with training in German language pedagogy and experience and success in teaching German at an American university.

Ph.D. or ABD is a preferred qualification.

Duties :

Duties consists in teaching 4 courses in German language, cinema and / or literature, which may vary slightly from year to year. Duties also consist in undergraduate student advising, service to the German program, and support of UCR undergraduate students and the major in German.

It is the expectation of the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages that all language lecturers adhere to departmental norms for language instruction as well as to curricular and pedagogical norms in the language program (or programs) in which they teach.

Courses of instruction :

Fall :

German 45, "German Cinema"

Winter :

German 001, "Elementary German" German 101, "German Conversation"

Spring :

German 002, "Elementary German"
