Regional Director of Referrals Management and Business Development Position Summary :
The Regional Business Development Director (Referral Management Focus) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing referral pipelines across a network of Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) within an assigned territory. This role is central to driving census growth, building and nurturing referral relationships, and streamlining the referral-to-admission process. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and an operational executor with a deep understanding of post-acute care referral sources and managed care partnerships.
Regional Director of Referrals Management and Business Development Key Responsibilities :
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key referral sources, including hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, senior living communities, and home health agencies.
Develop regional strategies to increase referrals, admissions, and payer mix quality across facilities.
Coordinate and monitor the referral management process across SNFs to ensure timely response, appropriate follow-up, and conversion to admission.
Identify and remove barriers in the referral process, working closely with admissions, clinical, and administrative teams at each facility.
Analyze referral data to track trends, gaps, conversion rates, and source performance.
Implement and monitor use of CRM tools and ensure accurate tracking of leads, referrals, and outcomes.
Conduct regular field visits and virtual meetings with hospitals, ACOs, and other referral partners to maintain visibility and trust.
Provide coaching and support to facility-level liaisons and admissions teams on referral follow-through, communication, and customer service excellence.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure referral readiness, including bed availability, clinical capabilities, and insurance verification.
Represent the organization at healthcare networking events, conferences, and marketing forums.
Regional Director of Referrals Management and Business Development Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in healthcare business development, marketing, or referral management—preferably in SNF, post-acute, or home health settings.
Proven track record in driving census growth through effective referral relationships.
Strong understanding of hospital discharge processes, managed care coordination, and long-term care requirements.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Experience with CRM platforms and data reporting tools.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple facility needs across a region.
Willingness to travel throughout assigned territory.
Preferred Experience :
Familiarity with common referral platforms (e.g., Allscripts, Epic, Ensocare).
Experience working with Medicare Advantage, ACOs, and Managed Medicaid plans.
Background in admissions, intake, or case management is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment :
Frequent travel across region (60–80%) to facilities and referral sources.
Combination of remote, in-field, and occasional on-site meetings.
Some evening and weekend availability required for events or urgent referral follow-up.
