Job Overview

Our data reporter is involved in the full breadth of data journalism : deciding on topics and scope of research, composing and sending out surveys, compiling results, and providing coverage of the most meaningful changes, trends and people. Projects on the top area private companies and fastest-growing companies are subjects of cover packages and even live events. Our annual Book of Lists is one of the publication's leading products and provides a showcase for the data reporter's work.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead work on lists, a key feature of each week's print edition, from drawing up surveys to determining which companies and people to survey to compiling results
• Leverage list results for articles, additional explanatory charts / graphs, and leading efforts to provide stories of people behind the numbers
• Lead work on planning for annual Book of Lists. This includes determining content to include, making updates as needed, and working with editors and designers on presentation.
• Work with other reporters to provide research assistance for larger projects or helping to present data for daily items.
