The Network Administrator is responsible for all site network communication, which includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network related hardware and software.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
Cisco Network Systems Support
- Work as primary technical engineer to design and install LAN and WAN infrastructure
- Monitor network performance and provide timely notifications on issues based on their severity
- Diagnose / trouble-shoot network problems and perform equipment repair and upgrades when appropriate
- Manage security solutions, which include firewall, load balancers, VPN, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems
- Install, configure, and maintain network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, routers, and serial terminal servers
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices
User Support
Provide technical support as needed to network / system usersResolve support ticketsTrain help desk staff to resolve common support ticket issuesAnswer user inquiries regarding performance and configuration issues.Documenting / Reporting
Document environment installations and configurations of all hardware and softwareDocument customizations to any aspect of a system environmentMaintain diagrams / maps of network topologyInventory of systems in both production and test environmentsREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS in computer science or better preferred; equivalent experience will be considered5+ years of networking experience, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this positionOperational knowledge of network protocols like TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, and VoIPOperational knowledge of switch and router configuration like OSPF, BGP and EIGRPFamiliarity with Cisco hardware and softwareFamiliarity with network intrusion security devices (Cisco Next-General Firewall)Ability to install software and hardware on networking equipment and microcomputersFamiliarity with a variety of networking trouble-shooting utilities (WireShark)Ability to backup and recover network configurationsOTHER QUALIFICATIONS
