About The Role

A Greenwich, CT based real estate investment firm is searching for a junior attorney to assist on compliance and legal matters.

The ideal candidate is a hard working and dedicated first to third year attorney looking for an unparalleled experience at a highly prestigious firm.

The firm is extremely demanding and fast paced and the young attorney will be provided with an excellent opportunity to learn from seasoned attorneys.

Any compliance related background is beneficial but not required. This attorney will report to the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.

What You’ll Do

Provide compliance and legal support to Starwood Capital Group, a private investment firm with a primary focus on global real estate.

Since its inception in 1991, the Starwood Capital Group has raised over $65 billion of capital and currently has approximately $115 billion of assets under management.

  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with matters relating to conflicts of interest, trade reporting, securities filings, gifts & entertainment and AML / KYC matters.
  • Negotiate, draft, review, comment upon, and approve confidentiality agreements and other vendor agreements.
  • Occasionally assist on corporate matters, including entity formations, structure charts and foreign qualifications.
  • Assist with compliance training, matters relating to foreign fundraising and other issues relating to registered investment advisors, broker-dealers and Starwood's FCA regulated entity.
  • Support the review and approval of marketing materials from a legal and compliance perspective.
  • Provide creative, innovative and effective legal solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Be a standard bearer for an elite legal team, help to cultivate a culture of business excellence and compliance.
  • Be an outstanding collaborator with colleagues in legal, compliance, investments, finance, sales, growth operations, product, and other areas.
