Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring CVICU experience and telemetry testing in Wisconsin or compact states.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Cardiothoracic ICU within a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and patients with advanced medical devices
  • Acuity adaptable unit with high complexity and specialized care needs
  • 12-hour day / evening shifts (0700-1930) with every other weekend and some holidays required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Travelers are the first to float and may be scheduled in multiple units or locations as needed
  • Primary responsibilities include high acuity care for cardiothoracic surgery and transplant patients
  • Must demonstrate technological skills and provide comprehensive support to patients and families
  • Role includes teamwork with the transplant and surgery teams
  • Strict telemetry test pass / fail criteria applies, with up to two attempts allowed prior to start
  • Orientation typically takes place at the main hospital and lasts about one week
  • First-time travelers may be accepted on some units
  • Holiday coverage is required and reviewed during candidate selection

    • Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 2 years CVICU acute care experience within the last 3 years
  • Basic arrhythmia and telemetry experience required; must pass telemetry test prior to start
  • Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
