We are a small company in Deer Park, TX specializing in the sale, repair, and reverse engineering of industrial equipment, such as gearboxes, pumps, and agitators. We're seeking a detail-oriented CAD Technician to support our engineering team by generating 3D models and fabrication drawings based on design guidelines, scan data, and sales inputs. This role starts as a temporary contract (3‑6 months) with potential for full‑time hire, allowing you to grow in a hands‑on environment focused on quality and innovation. This position requires the candidate to be on‑site to support the repair shop.
Functions
Generate new drawings that conform to our design standards from pre‑built models
Take part requirements from outside sales team, combine them with internal design guides, and generate 3D models and drawings to send out for fabrication
Ensure drawings for different sized parts are all uniform and conform to the same set of guidelines
Generate 3D models and drawings based on scan data and design standards
Perform basic QC on custom‑built parts to ensure they conform to drawings
Collaborate with engineers and sales to interpret sketches, redlines, and specifications, resolving any design ambiguities
Maintain organized file structures and version control for models and drawings
Assist in updating design guidelines as needed based on feedback from fabrication or repairs
Essential Qualifications
Experience working in parts design
Experience with SolidWorks Drawings
Ability to generate final designs conforming to design guidelines based on general design inputs
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with 3D scanning metrology
Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
Experience with reverse engineering
Basic knowledge of GD&T
Familiarity with 3dExperience or PDM
Education and Certifications
Associate’s degree or higher in CAD, drafting, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field. Exceptional experience and SolidWorks CSWA / CSWP may be substituted for some candidates.
This is an on‑site role
Occasional hands‑on work is required (e.g. measuring and QC)
Must be able to lift 25lb and stand for extended periods
