Job Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and assessments for pediatric patients including neonates, infants, children, and adolescentsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based physical therapy principles and practicesAdminister therapeutic interventions including corrective exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, and age-appropriate modalitiesProvide patient and family education on proper use of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetic appliancesMonitor patient progress and adjust treatment programs based on clinical evaluation and outcomesCollaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapistsMaintain accurate clinical documentation including evaluation results, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summariesEnsure compliance with departmental policies, safety protocols, infection control standards, and quality improvement initiativesProvide guidance and supervision to physical therapy assistants and support staff as neededParticipate in continuing education, professional development activities, in-service training, and departmental meetingsMaintain equipment safety and proper functioning of rehabilitation department suppliesDeliver patient-centered care that prioritizes customer satisfaction and positive patient experiencesRequired Qualifications
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited programCurrent New York State Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hireBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire dateStrong clinical assessment and evaluation skills for pediatric populationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient, family, and team collaborationAbility to lift 30 pounds independently and 150 pounds with assistanceKnowledge of universal precautions and infection control proceduresCommitment to adhering to hospital safety policies including fire safety and disaster protocolsProficiency in clinical documentation and medical record keepingPreferred Qualifications
