Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a NE or compact license and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level 2 trauma ICU in an acute care hospitalPatient population includes COPD, pneumonia, stroke, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro casesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2 for ICU; medical patients may be 1 : 5 and PCU at 1 : 4 as neededICU RNs titrate drips including vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedativesUtilizes vents and BiPAP; RNs must troubleshoot equipment as neededRNs are required to read and interpret telemetry stripsUses EPIC EMR system12-hour night shifts (1830-0700); weekend work is required every other weekendHoliday coverage requirements vary based on unit needsFloating required to PCU and medical floorsCritical care coverage and E-ICU / APRN support available 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs requiredResponsibilities include titrating critical drips, interpreting telemetry, and managing vents and BiPAP for acute ICU patientsTeam is supported by a charge nurse and patient care techs (1 tech until 20 patients; 2 techs up to 24)First week includes system orientation and 1-2 shifts of unit-specific onboardingArtificial nails are not permitted; refusal to comply results in contract terminationRTO must be requested upfront (maximum of 7 days per contract); additional RTO is not approvedCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityRequirements
Active NE or compact RN license in hand—pending licenses are not acceptedMinimum 2 years recent ICU RN experienceCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requiredAbility to pass an open book skills exam during orientation with at least 90%Driver's license required to confirm permanent residency beyond 50 miles from facilityMay not be currently or recently (within 1 year) employed at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in a full time, part time, or PRN capacityBenefits
