Responsibilities
Florida State University's College of Medicine (COM) is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and collaborative Business Manager to oversee key business and financial operations supporting our academic, clinical, and research missions. This vital leadership role is responsible for managing contracts, auxiliary services, and financial analysis within the College of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities :
Contract Management & Compliance
- Oversee the College of Medicine's Contract Management System in alignment with University, state, and federal policies.
- Submit and manage contracts through the SpearMart Contract Management System.
- Partner with COM General Counsel, vendors, and departments to negotiate contract terms and ensure policy adherence. Serve as the content expert and provide training as needed to departmental staff in contract management across COM.
- Provide guidance to Accounting Specialists on contract deliverables, procurement, and budget tracking.
Auxiliary Operations Oversight
Lead financial operations for COM auxiliary units (e.g., MedShare Services, MRI, Translational Science Lab).Prepare applications, develop rates, manage audits and adjustments, and handle internal / external billing.Ensure auxiliary contracts are managed effectively and deliverables are met on time.Financial Analysis & Reporting
Analyze financial data across the COM's complex academic, research, and clinical activities.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, financial projections, and cost studies.Support data-driven decision-making by identifying areas for improvement and recommending fiscal strategies.Compliance & Team Leadership
Provide oversight and training to Accounting Specialists on travel, PCard use, and financial compliance.Review financial transactions for accuracy, allowability, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.Supervise two Accounting Specialists, including performance management, training, and workload distribution.Foster a collaborative, service-oriented environment aligned with the mission and goals of Finance & Administration.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma / equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note : post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
