VP Credit (Onsite / Hybrid)

Location Notice : AgriBank is currently headquartered in downtown St. Paul. Please be aware that we will be relocating to Richfield, MN in August 2026.

Position Overview

As a key member of the Credit team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. The VP Credit position plays a strategic role in the AgriBank Commercial Lending function spanning : capital markets credit underwriting, portfolio management, credit administration, workout, audit preparation, and product development as appropriate. The position will additionally be involved in supporting existing AgriBank asset pools.

Job Functions

Commercial Lending

  • Plays a key Credit role on a Commercial Lending / Capital Markets team that grows and manages a portfolio of loan participations purchased from other Farm Credit entities.
  • Works in partnership with Lending staff to soundly and efficiently underwrite credit opportunities on new and existing capital markets borrowers.
  • Plays a central role in portfolio management, including but not limited to, establishing individual hold limits per credit, and establishing and monitoring portfolio risk limits by counterparty, industry, and risk rating.
  • Provides guidance internally on eligibility and reputation risk on existing and potential credit opportunities.
  • Functions as a senior member of Loan Committee with delegated authority to act on credits as established within loan credit policy.
  • Plays a central role in audit preparation and response spanning FCA, AgriBank Internal Audit, and other third-party audits as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other System credit and lending staff.
  • Is responsible for the sound overall credit administration of the Commercial Lending portfolio.
  • Trains and develop junior credit staff in partnership with other Credit staff.
  • Plays a central role in developing and / or updating industry analysis and intrinsic risk assessments
  • Performs other duties and special projects as appropriate which may involve Counterparty Risk Committee, interest rate swaps, and cash management.

Asset Pools

  • Partners with the SVP Lending Programs to develop a thorough understanding of existing asset pools programs with District Associations.
  • Provide ongoing input on asset pool board and management portfolio and due diligence activities.
  • Prior Approval

  • Supports the Prior Approval process by preparing information for review and action by others to act on loan requests for employees, association Director or AgriBank Director loans and requests for Excess Prior Approval when the association seeks approval for loan actions over their delegated authority
  • Special Projects

  • Participates in and provides leadership through System committees consistent with the direction provided by AgriBank Chief Credit Officer
  • Member of CRC (Counterparty Risk Committee) and within Commercial Lending plays an active role the analysis and review of commercial paper issuers to determine acceptability of risk for the Treasury Department's investment portfolio
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, agricultural business, economics, accounting or related field
  • Master's degree or equivalent preferred
  • 10 - 15 years of related experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Knowledge

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Knowledge of agricultural / agribusiness industries
  • Knowledge of agricultural and corporate finance lending principles and practices, and Association and Farm Credit System operating policies and procedures
  • Skills

  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain credit decisions and industry trends as it pertains to the job
  • Skill in planning and coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customers
  • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Some travel required.

    The typical base range for this role is between $149,000-$237,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
