Material Handler
The Material Handler ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and / or materials storage area.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
- Locates and accurately pulls parts and supplies for use in assembly by using pull sheets generated from our warehouse management system.
- Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
- Receives and verifies counts of incoming parts from vendors. Put parts away in designated inventory locations. Records units delivered and location of units.
- Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supply codes, lot numbers, and quantities.
- Records units shipped for product shipment.
- Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move materials onto and off trucks, departments and loading docks. Maintains material handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.
- Performs cycle counting to ensure inventory is accurate and discrepancies.
- Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.
- Follows established Lean Manufacturing and 6-S procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Organizational skills and proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.Ability to read and analyze information required.Adept at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously.Proficiency in computer use and data entry is preferred.High school diploma or equivalent required.Prior manufacturing experience preferred.Previous shipping / receiving experience desired.Previous experience operating a forklift or pallet jack helpful.Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to perform tasks involving walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive motions, as necessary to complete job responsibilities.Must be able to work in environments with noise levels varying from quiet to extremely loud.Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor including eye, ear, and foot protection.Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures.Company Benefits
