JOB DESCRIPTION :
A Behavior Therapist will provide individualized applied behavior analysis (ABA) services directly to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a center-based environment. Behavior Therapists will provide services that place the highest priority on an ethical regard for the best interest of
the children served.
PRINICPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Specific duties will focus on the following areas : Treatment Delivery, Collaboration, Program Development, Communication, Organization, and Miscellaneous.
Behavior Therapists are responsible for the following specific duties :
Treatment Delivery
- Implement ITP programs as designed, adapting to frequent program changes, including but not limited to :
- Preparation for shift and environmental management
- Discrete trial instruction
- Natural environment teaching
- Generalization
- Maintenance
- Implement Behavior Reduction Plans (BRP) as written, adapting to frequency plan changes
- Prepare sufficiently for sessions by reviewing client’s Program at a Glance, progress note, BRP, and communication log
- Take responsibility for client’s programming during scheduled sessions
- Record data for each treatment objective in collaboration with the leadership team
- Complete all required documentation and paperwork (e.g., progress notes, take-home note) necessary for assigned clients
Collaboration
Work consistently as part of a team (i.e., pod) to ensure that the clients assigned receive the highest quality therapy and treatment possibleAttend scheduled weekly pod meetings, scheduled overlaps with the leadership team, and monthly competency checks to remain current on all programmingCommunicate with leadership team to ensure proper therapy is delivered each day via communication logs, face-to-face communication, and during weekly pod meetingsProvide timely input and feedback to leadership team members regarding programmingParticipate in training and demonstrating programming to other Behavior TherapistsBehave ethically, ensure that the client’s welfare is protectedAddress coworkers respectfully at all timesREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Employees must meet one of the following Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) standards :
Must have a Master’s degree in behavioral science or a related fieldMust be enrolled in a Master’s program in behavioral science or a related fieldMust have a Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or a related field and have 2000 hours of supervised experience working with children under the age of 18 who have severe emotional disturbancesMust have 6000 hours of supervised experience working with children under the age of 18 who have severe emotional disturbancesEmployees must pass all State and federally mandated criminal background checksEmployees must be interested in working with children with ASDEmployees must possess the interpersonal skills to be playful, enthusiastic, and bring a high levelof energy into the therapy situationEmployees must be able to develop an effective rapport with clients and client caregiversEmployees must have the ability to read written treatment directions, collect numeric data, and summarize the results; in addition, strong writing skills to document treatment sessions are requiredEmployees must possess a valid driver’s license, continuously maintain appropriate auto insurance as mandated by the State of Minnesota, and have use of an automobile to travel to worksites and to the office for training sessions and meetingsEmployees must be willing to work well with a team and comply with supervisory directionTRAINING :
Behavior Therapists must complete a set of competency checklists conducted on their work with each assigned client by the Team Trainer, Clinical Supervisor, and / or Senior Behavior Analyst within the first 90 days of hireBehavior Therapists will incorporate performance feedback from their leadership team into their performance according to the timelines set forth by the leadership teamPROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT :
Behavior Therapists must complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 yearsPHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Frequent standing, sitting, bending, twisting, kneeling, walking, running, jumping, etc.; also a potential for frequent lifting of between 25-100 pounds.Job Types : Full-time, Part-time
Pay : $29.00 - $31.00 per hour
