Harlem Children's Zone(HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Director of Talent Development to join our Human Resources Team.
The Director of Talent Development will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone : break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking, and influential Director of Talent Development to lead enterprise-wide learning initiatives that drive employee growth, leadership capability, and organizational performance. This role is a key architect of our talent strategy, integrating Learning & Development (L&D) with broader Talent Management and Performance Management frameworks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate executive presence, strategic foresight, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leadership.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning and Development, with 3+ years in a leadership role

Proven success in designing and executing enterprise-wide L&D strategiesExpertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance consultingExperience with LMS platforms (e.g., LearnUpon, LinkedIn Learning) and performance systems (e.g., Lattice)Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to lead through influence and collaborate across a matrixed organizationProfessional certifications (e.g., CPLP, CPTD, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are preferredExperience in a global, high-growth, or matrixed environment is preferredBackground in organizational development and change management is preferredWhat you'll do
Strategic Learning Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with organizational goals, workforce needs, and future capabilitiesServe as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on learning, leadership development, and performance enablementChampion a culture of continuous learning and capability building across all levels of the organizationProgram Design, Facilitation & Delivery
Lead the design and facilitation of scalable learning programs, including onboarding, technical training, DEI, compliance, and leadership developmentConduct learning needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunitiesOversee blended learning experiences using modern platforms and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)Learning Analytics & Impact Measurement
Define and track KPIs to measure learning effectiveness, engagement, and business impactLeverage data and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to inform decision-making and optimize program ROIPartner with People Analytics to ensure alignment with broader HR metrics and reportingIntegration with Talent & Performance Management
Align L&D initiatives with performance management systems (e.g., Lattice) and succession planning frameworksSupport talent reviews, assessments, and the use of tools such as the 9-box model to identify and develop high-potential talentCollaborate with HR Business Partners to embed learning into career development and performance processesTeam Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
