Overview
Position Summary : Processes inbound / outbound customer orders while achieving daily company safety, quality and performance goals and objectives; functional daily responsibilities vary by the needs of the location.
Responsibilities
Provide continual direction for optimal order flow including the following activities : Manage daily order priorities to meet on-time and complete service goals.
Spot audit customer orders for accuracy, proper carton stacking, special handling and labeling requirements, etc.Produce Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping manifests and "ship confirm" all orders.Manage floor space and monitor outbound routing of customer shipments.Ensure shipping department associates (order pickers) correctly pick, scan, stack and stage cartons, skids, etc. during the order fulfillment process.Verify safety of all docked trailers including chocks, dock plate usage, trailer flooring, etc. prior to loading.Verify the proper loading and placarding (if necessary) of all outbound trailers.Enforce all safety policies and housekeeping practices.Other duties as assigned.ReceivingCoordinate incoming truckload deliveries with the schedulers and planners to ensure dock availability and manage priority deliveries.
Ensure receiving department associates correctly scan and put away product per the WMS locator system rules.Work with receiving department associates to ensure that all incoming orders are processed correctly including verification of purchase order number, quantity, and any special handling requirements (e.g. Certificates of Analysis) before physical receipt, data entry and put away.Provide information to management regarding any carrier performance issues (damaged loads, improper stacking, shortages, etc.).Ability to problem solve, compile data, and provide data-driven recommendations to management.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge and Experience
One (1) year experience as a Material Handler in a distribution center environment.Good communication skills, English fluency, both verbal and written.Computer literacy including WMS and Microsoft Office.Forklift operator certification / authorization required.Mastery of supply-chain logistics management and carrier routing requirements.Working knowledge of corporate safety program and emergency preparedness plans.Willingness to work and to follow instructions.Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.Reading ability sufficient to identify labels and understand written documentation.Cooperative attitude toward co-workers and supervisors.Ability to do either the shipping function or receiving function (Shipping : Small Parcel / LTL, Dock Management; Receiving : Check-In / Locate Product, Dock Management, Troubleshooting).Education and Certification
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
