Director Of Engineering
The Director of Engineering leads the engineering function with strategic and technical oversight, focusing on aerospace systems and components. This role ensures regulatory compliance, drives innovation, supports manufacturing, and manages product development from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and grow the engineering team to meet customer demand and support business growth.
- Drive operational improvements using Design for Excellence (DfX).
- Implement changes from manual documentation to digital systems.
- Manage budget with a focus on cost savings and capital equipment investments.
- Oversee hiring, performance, and career development of engineers.
- Align departmental goals with company objectives.
- Act as the main customer contact for customer interaction and deliverables.
- Approve engineering documentation and production processes.
- Develop manufacturing processes and tooling strategies.
- Conduct and approve tooling audits.
- Collaborate on cost estimates and Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
- Promote continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Skills
15+ years of experience in engineering, including 5+ years in leadership development.Bachelor's in Engineering (Master's preferred).Proven experience in hiring and developing a team.Strong knowledge of budgets and finance for cost savings and investments.Expertise in engineering principles, manufacturing, tooling, and audits.Experience with Aerospace or Department of Defense (DoD) regulatory compliance and quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, AS13100, and NADCAP.Proficiency in electronic systems management : ERP / MRP, QMS, and Microsoft Office.Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.Work Environment
This role operates within a job shop environment, where there is no design of new products. Customers provide drawings, and the team executes build-to-print processes. The role involves hands-on work on the manufacturing floor, managing technical aspects and decision-making. The ideal candidate will embrace both the detailed work and visionary tasks to drive the team forward.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00 / yr.
