American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele assignment requiring a current NY license and strong Epic experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work on a Med / Surg Telemetry unit caring for adult patientsEvening nurse-patient ratios are typically 5 : 1 (may stretch to 6-7 : 1); night ratios 6-7 : 1 (may stretch to 8-9 : 1)Shift is 4x12 hours, nights from 7 : 00pm to 7 : 00amEvery other weekend is requiredPatients commonly present with acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and sepsisSpecial equipment used includes BIPAP, CPAP, High Flow, ventilators, trachs, and chest tubesPeripheral line and central line management requiredMust float to like units as needed, always within scope of practiceEpic is the charting system usedPCT’s perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and assist with activities of daily livingPhlebotomy team handles all peripheral lab draws; nurses are responsible for PICC lines and central linesMust be proficient in peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway managementExpected to follow strict isolation precautions as indicatedScrub colors are any combination of navy and whiteFirst-time travelers accepted with Epic experienceReturn staff must have at least one year gap since last assignmentRTO is limited to a maximum of one week per contractHoliday coverage is expected per unit needsCall off policy allows for up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment\n \n Requirements\n
