Yard Hand

As a Yard Hand, you will play a critical role in the safe movement and handling of building materials in a dynamic lumber yard environment. Your primary responsibility will be to load and unload materials, ensuring efficient yard operations and providing excellent customer service. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, with a pay rate of $20 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload building materials used for residential and commercial properties, including windows, doors, and wood supplies.
• Operate mid-size industrial forklifts to move materials efficiently.
• Meet with community members and customers to facilitate material pick-up.
• Build loads and load trucks for both company and customer vehicles.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe lumber yard.
• Conduct cycle counts and keep accurate inventory records.
• Use and maintain all equipment properly.
• Commit to continued learning about products, packages, and procedures.
• Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Ensure accurate distribution and placement of building materials.
• Clean up and dispose of debris properly.
• Take initiative to address tasks without being asked.

Work Environment

Work is performed outdoors in the yard, exposed to all weather conditions, including rain and shine. Safety is a top priority, and you will be instructed not to report during snowy conditions to ensure your safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract-to-Hire position based in Waynesville, North Carolina. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, with a pay rate of $20 per hour.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 / hr.
