Job description

Material Handler

The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting multiple departments by managing freight, inspecting materials, and maintaining efficient workflow throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming freight using packing slips and data entry in the Mapics system.
  • Safely load and unload shipments.
  • Route materials to appropriate storage areas or points of use.
  • Assemble skids and prepare outgoing shipments.
  • Inspect incoming materials for quality and conformance using blueprints and tape measures.
  • Report defective or questionable materials to supervisors.
  • Accept and process returns as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in operating sit-down, stand-up, or reach forklifts.
  • Experience using RF scanners or warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
  • Strong math and reading skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping / receiving, preferably in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of forklift operation experience.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is an industrial manufacturing setting in Lindenwood, IL. The facility is well-lit, clean, and updated, with designated assembly stations. The role requires working a 1st shift from 5 am to 1 : 30 pm, with most work weeks ranging from 50-56 hours. The environment includes heavy machinery, welding equipment, hydraulic systems, and overhead cranes. Physical demands include frequent lifting of heavy components, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods. The temperature can vary, being hot in summer and cold in winter. Noise levels can be high, and PPE such as steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lindenwood, Illinois.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 / hr.
