Manager, HR Internal Communications

Position Purpose : The Manager, HR Internal Communications will serve as a strategic communications partner embedded within key HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, WeAreTHD, and Culture & Values. This individual will build strong relationships with senior leaders across these areas to understand their business priorities and translate them into impactful communication strategies that align with broader internal communications goals. The role requires a balance of strategic thinking and creative execution, bringing communications plans to life through compelling written content, visual design, internal social media, video, and other mixed media formats. The ideal candidate will be a skilled consultant and business partner, capable of influencing officer-level leaders and driving innovation within the communications space. This person will also be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements that elevate the effectiveness and efficiency of the HR Communications team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and edit corporate press releases, media kit materials, issue briefs, and other communications materials
  • Develop key messaging for various corporate initiatives
  • Research and develop unique content to support corporate PR and social media efforts
  • Conduct proactive media outreach and strategic story development
  • Respond to various local and industry trade media inquiries
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key field contacts or key executive contacts
  • Assist with requests from outside organizations for occasional speaking appearances by functional leaders and award entries
  • Assist in coordinating local and national media opportunities with stores, certain functions or functional field leadership
  • Occasionally, respond to inquiries regarding customer service issues
  • Research the public impact of various proactive and reactive media initiatives
  • Monitor results and develop reporting for key functional stakeholders

  • Travel Requirements

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Working Conditions

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • Strong visual communication and design sensibility
  • Experience with internal social media and video production
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and manage complex relationships
  • Skilled in strategic consulting and business partnership
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on creative execution
  • Demonstrated innovation in communications approaches and tools
  • Experience driving process improvements within a communications function
  • Minimum Education

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

  • Ability to build close relationships with the press to improve effectiveness of pitching activities
