Partners for HOME is seeking a Vice President of Development (VPD) to join our mission to make homelessness in the City of Atlanta rare, brief and nonrecurring by providing strategic leadership over development. The VPD will work closely with the CEO, staff and Board of Directors to implement strategies to drive revenue and advance fundraising strategy while overseeing staff and contractors to execute the work. Together with his / her / their team, the VPD will :
- Secure public and private support, resource alignment and funding for CoC initiatives; and
- Develop and implement a strategic development plan to ensure organizational operation support now and into the future.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Resources and Achieve Results
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with volunteers, community and business leaders, donors, and fund recipients to generate necessary resourcesMeet annual fundraising goals per the development of a strategic development planDevelop and maintain a successful corporate, foundation, and individual solicitation program, including developing a strategic development plan, identifying priorities and prospects, and building resources and connections to implement the plan.Create and manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual prospects, communicate with current and prospective donors to build relationships and secure grants and donationInitiate strategic ways to generate revenueDevelopment long- and short- range plans that ensure long-term sustainability for both PFH and the CoCBuild relationships and inspire investment including a systematic approach of personal connection and outreach to potential donorsOversee all grant writing and submissions including the annual HUD CoC NOFAProvide strategic leadership over efforts to improve public policy and secure support and funding for solutions to homelessness.Build Relationships and Inspire Investment
Convey energy, meaning and importance of PFH and the CoC mission and workPromote idea or vision, able to read the audience, and persuade others to take actionPartners with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Program Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Board members and others for donor cultivation and solicitation.Meet donor needs by providing strategies and opportunities that raise revenue and other resources while building trust and benefitting both partiesRecognize the power of effective stewardship and development and implement relationship plans for donors of all giving levelsCultivate and solicit contributions from prospective and current individual and corporate donors, and secure private grantsEngage with donors year-round, recognizing impact of gift, communicating progress and results, inspiring involvement and ensuring quality experienceCollect and record relevant donor and volunteer information to forge partnerships, increase engagement and sustain relationshipsParticipate in community activities which contribute to the acquisition and retention of individual donorsOrganizational Leadership
Work closely with leadership to create and advance the CoC strategic plan and PFH business planValue and leverage the power of external networks and relationshipsPartner with CPO to identify key areas of impact for development and communication opportunitiesConduct, analyze and interpret internal and external research to support planning and development of organizational resource development and marketing strategies and planProgressive thinker, understanding philanthropic trends and best practices in donor-centered fund-raisingEffective presenter, active listener, open to new ideas, keeps supporters informed and engagedSelf-directed, pro-active and holds one-self accountableSkills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of progressive experience in a similar role.Comprehensive knowledge in nonprofit fundraising, and developmentAbility to maintain knowledge and professional development in market research, business trends and fundraising trends that may impact needs and resourcesComprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and other softwareCompetencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position manages one contractor for grant writing.
