Grounds Maintenance Foreman
The Grounds Maintenance Foreman position will maintain Raleigh's Greenway trail system, including asphalt removal from damage on trails due to storms, root damage, or fallen tree damage. This position will also include backfill of washouts, placement of damaged bollards, cutting and removal of trees from greenway trails as well as support other crews with their maintenance when needed. This position will also include assisting with storm related damage, including, but not limited to snow removal from Centers, debris removal, and mud and silt removal from trails and tunnels.
About You : The ideal candidate for the Grounds Maintenance Foreman position will be a reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused individual with strong communication skills and a solid work ethic. They should be team-oriented, with a passion for parks and community service. A valid NC Class "A" driver's license is required, along with the ability to operate park maintenance equipment and perform preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to high-quality work, safety standards, and community engagement.

Please Note : This position will routinely require exerting significant physical strength and endurance to complete essential job duties. Tasks include adding and removing heavy attachments to equipment, loading, and unloading trees and materials at various job sites, lifting heavy dump truck gates and handling base concrete just to name a few. These responsibilities frequently involve lifting and moving objects exceeding 50 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds, making a high level of physical ability essential for safe and effective performance.

Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience : Associate's Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Grounds Maintenance, Pest Control or related field; 3 to 5 years' experience in specialized turf maintenance, landscape design / maintenance, parks maintenance, arboriculture, or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and / or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Licensing and Certifications :

Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar environment, and a warehouse or shop environment. Work Exposures : There is frequent exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
