Maiz y Agave brings original Mexican cuisine to life through premier hospitality, elevated cocktails, and entertainment. We are seeking a cheerful and experienced Lead Hostess with the following qualifications and skills :

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a hostess in upscale, high-volume restaurants, lounges, or bars
  • Ability to perform under pressure and handle demanding clientele.
  • Bilingual : Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Mandatory Knowledge with our reservation systems : OpenTable
  • Network access to local and international clientele is a plus.

Job Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Physical stamina to stand or walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with elevated noise levels.
  • Greet and welcome guests within 30 seconds of arrival to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Engage with guests upon arrival and departure to ensure positive experiences.
  • Create memorable interactions with guests.
  • Seat guests, collect information, and accurately communicate wait times when tables are not available.
  • Answer phones and manage reservations.
  • Provide information about menu items and identify up-sell opportunities.
  • Present bottles of champagne to VIP tables when needed.
  • Resolve guest issues proactively and efficiently.
  • Maintain consistency in guest satisfaction through attentive service.
  • Perform restocking and cleaning duties, including opening and closing side work.
  • Keep the entry area neat and organized at all times.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed.
  • Follow the seating grid and house rules to manage seating rotation effectively.
  • “Read the floor” and support smooth seating flow.
  • Collaborate with the Maitre D’ to manage floor plans and ensure timely seating to avoid delays.
  • Maintain general knowledge of the restaurant to answer guest inquiries.
