Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 01 / 05 / 2026 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position working night shifts at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a compact or AL RN license and experience with Cerner or Epic EMR. Responsibilities Work in a large hospital environment with various Med / Surg units including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Urology Patient populations include post-surgical, trauma, neurology, oncology, orthopedic, urology, medical-surgical, and observation cases Patient ratios typically range from 1 : 5 to 1 : 6 depending on unit and acuity Will be assigned a home unit during orientation and may float to like Med / Surg units Uses Cerner EMR system Night shift schedule from 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 00 am on a 12-hour shift Weekend rotation required : every other weekend or four weekend days per block schedule Holiday coverage required : one major and one minor holiday in accordance with facility policy Telemetry monitored by dedicated tele techs, but RNs are required to interpret and confirm EKG strips every 4 hours Will receive a combination of classroom and unit orientation based on previous experience and last employment at facility First-time travelers accepted with required experience and EMR skills Support on the unit includes CNAs, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, hospitalists, and unit clerk / reception Scrub color required : ceil blue or white Parking provided in deck on the 2nd through 4th levels Time-off approval available up to 7 days outside of blackout dates set by the facility Requirements Active AL or compact RN license required Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum two years of Med / Surg RN experience required; one year of trauma experience required for trauma surgical units Cerner or Epic EMR experience required Ability to perform wound care, administer medications, manage chest tubes, trach care, IV starts, blood draws, and care for various surgical / medical devices No local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius Permanent staff must wait six months before being eligible for a traveler position Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-641641.
